Ph.D. Programs
Students interested in Ph.D. studies in CBCB have a number of choices. While we do not have a Ph.D. program specifically in Bioinformatics, our faculty supervise Ph.D. research in bioinformatics through a number of different graduate programs. Links to these programs can be found below, and potential students are encouraged to apply to the Ph.D. program that best matches their interests.
Students with a background in computer science, mathematics, physics or other mathematically oriented fields should consider applying to the Ph.D. program in Computer Science or in Bioengineering. Students whose principal training is in the biological sciences should apply to the Biological Sciences (BISI) Ph.D. program listed below, which has a track dedicated to Bioinformatics and Genomics. CBCB Faculty belong to each of these programs, allowing students with an interest in Bioinformatics to pursue a Ph.D. in the program that bests fits their previous training.
See the links below for instructions on how to apply to each program. Once admitted to a program, students are encouraged to contact faculty directly to discuss their interests further.
Program Areas
Programs related to or including Bioinformatics include:
- Computer Science, gives an overview of the CS department, research opportunities, applying for admission, financial aid, fellowships, etc.
- Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computation
- Biological Sciences Graduate Program, which has a track called Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and Genomics (CBBG). Specify this track when you apply. NOTE: you are not expected to identify a lab before admission into the program.
